J. K. Rowling to Speak About "The Casual Vacancy" in NYC on October 16

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that author J. K. Rowling will come stateside October 16th for a one-time-US event at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City to participate in a conversation about her new novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy.  They report:

J.K. Rowling will be making a rare public U.S. appearance to discuss The Casual Vacancy, her first novel for adults, which chronicles a small British town roiled by scandal. The Harry Potter author will be joined by State of Wonder author Ann Patchett for a conversation in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City. 
As for tickets to this public event, EW notes that prices range from "$43 if purchased online, $44 if purchased via phone, $37 if purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office," and will be available starting September 10th.  Each ticket will also come with a copy of The Casual Vacany.

UPDATE: According to Fox News, Ms. Rowling will be interviewed by Ann Patchett, and will be taking "select" questions from audience members. Ms. Rowling will also be signing a copy of her new book for each audience member. The venue seats 1,100 members.

The aforementioned novel by Ms. Rowling will be released on September 27th.

New York? Who goes to New York? Northern California, THAT’S where she should go, much more effective use of her time. Only 1,000 tickets, scalpers are probably lining up as we speak.

For those of us who do live close enough to NYC to consider going, it would be really nice to know whether this is a daytime or evening event.

Finally found it on the Little, Brown website: The event will begin at 8 p.m., at which time I will be covering another stupid Planning Board meeting for my local paper. Poo.
